Remrov’s Artwork
About the Artist
Casey Vormer a.k.a. Remrov is an autistic and self-taught pencil artist based in Montreal. He specializes in photorealistic drawings of everything he finds interesting from animals to cityscapes.
Born in The Netherlands, Casey was diagnosed with classic autism when he was 21 years old, after many years of struggling with every aspect of his life. Casey started drawing at a very young age. As soon as he was old enough to hold a pencil, he was always drawing. He noticed that whenever he was drawing, people left him alone and didn’t expect him to communicate. This made him feel safe, as he had a lot of challenges with communication, social interacting and expressing himself verbally. Throughout the years it turned out that Casey had an incredible eye for detail and the ability to hyperfocus, which is depicted in his drawings.

As a young child, Casey started with drawing cartoon-like characters, roadmaps, and patterns of shapes and colours. About thirteen years ago, he started focussing on realistic drawings of animals. As a huge animal lover he has always found it a lot easier to connect with animals, as they don’t use verbal language and complex facial expressions. It’s mainly for this reason why he has such a dedicated passion to draw animals. Recently Casey also gained interest in drawing cityscapes, and in June 2022 he finished his bigger endeavour yet — a huge 42 x 74 inch drawing of Downtown Montreal.
Casey’s work can be found on several social media platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and since 2021 on Tiktok, where he quickly gained a huge amount of followers. Aside from sharing his drawings with the world, it’s also a huge goal of him to raise more awareness and understanding about autism.
